So it begins..

So you want to learn about me, hey? Well you clicked the link to this categorized post..

Me. Well, for starters, my name is Zack, last name Rose. Some of you may know me already, some of you may not. I live in Calgary, Alberta. Cartooning has been one of my greatest passions, or call it hobbies for quite some time now. I started drawing when I was seven years of age. Funny how it all started..it was on the day I was going to a surgeon for surgery on one of my eyes, I had a case of a wondering eye. But along the way there, I was given a gift from my family, a sketch book. Actually, quite the diversified one if you ask me. But it was a great sketch book that had Garfield the Cat on the front of it, and included every kind of paper that a basic starting cartoonist needed. Comic panel paper, coloured paper, and plain white paper.I still have it around, I believe. If I can find it, I’ll add it as a post to this page!

I always knew I had a creative bone in my body. Heck, even before that sketch book (I would have been around five years old) I recall having a special kind of drawing tablet that hooked up to your TV and you could draw whatever you almost wanted on the tablet, and have it show up on the screen! If you remember what I was talking about, I would love to hear a post from you!

With that sketch book, I didn’t go straight to drawing what was on my mind, actually, it was creating comics with cartoon characters I had just made up from the top of my head. When my eye had healed, I had continued working on my comic panels, and within a few months, had two main series going, with some shorts as well.

Not long later, I had started to push my talent onto larger paper, and drew household objects in my room. This was when I was about ten. And throughout the years I had did eye for eye sketches, and create pieces of my own. Further on down the road, I took a cartooning class (one of the best things in my life!) our instructor was awesome, and everything he taught us will never leave my head. It probably pushed my talent even further.

After that, things started to go down slowly. I was too focused on school, and of course sleeping. But I recently picked it up again last month in mid December 2012. I started with small sketches, which of some I will post. Plus, a larger image of one of the nymphs from Rayman Origins. 😉 I am a gamer at heart, so of course I am going to do some video game character sketches. Now, friends in and outside of work had supported my idea of creating a blog about my cartoon work, and my idea of lessons and walkthroughs.

Now this is only a bit about me, if you have any more questions involving anything, feel free to contact me! 🙂

-Rose out!

When you do game characters… will you be taking requests? ^_^ x

Good question, probably once when I get past my 4th lesson, “Humanoids & Shapes, oh my!” :). So that I can show it being done in steps.
